The Journey Begins | Healing Tech

This is Tenay and I did a thing.

I got accepted to the Masters of Science in Information Science program at the University of Colorado Boulder. I start on August 18th!

This is my first step in gaining the skills I need to build our interview-based recommender service under our Healing Technology Group. My degree will be 51% information science (how to get the right answers to the right questions) and 49% computer science (how to automate getting the right answers to the right questions).

So far, I’ve been really impressed with the INFO department in the College of Communications, Media, Design, and Information at CU Boulder. (Yes, they call is “CU Boulder” instead of “UC Boulder” so as to not get confused with the University of California.) They seem like a small department with a lot of big ideas and a lot of community. That’s my style!

I also signed up for CU Boulder’s technology incubation services, which help their students position their inventions in the marketplace. It benefits the university, the students, and the economy of Colorado. Brilliant. As I love working in teams to move toward a common goal, incubators are probably my jam! (We shall see.)

Our first incubator session starts this Friday, August 1st, and my slides are already ready. I have a feeling that my MBA with a concentration on entrepreneurship and consulting from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary will be useful here.

Wish me luck and if I come to mind, send up a prayer for our company’s successful build of this technology to close the gap between symptom identification and the next best step for curing the root cause.

After an intense, 3-week training, networking, and interviews program called “Starting Blocks”, I’m happy to report that we are still on the right track! […]
