Here are our terms of service for using this website as of April 18, 2024.
Guarding Privacy
The Internet is Still Spying on You
So… the internet still collects information on the activity of everybody in it, and it’s a VAST amount of information, too. That includes the website monitoring tools we use from Google and WordPress to track our visitors’ behavior over time so we can improve this site. These tools provide details down to your computer’s Internet Protocol (IP) Address at the time you connect to this site. It is theoretically possible for someone smarter than us to link your IP Address to your name, thereby revealing your visitor behavior on this–and every other–website. However, we will not be trying to link your IP Address to your name; aggregate behavior is more interesting for us. We do, however, routinely see your location and time stamp information like, “A visitor from Nigeria spent 2 minutes on the front page, then moved to the about page, then moved to the latest blog before leaving the site.”
You Can Reduce Some of the Spying
If you don’t like that reality, please sign up for a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service that masks your IP Address. (It’s probably a good idea for many reasons.) Also, as we are not tech-savvy enough to turn on or off specific pieces of code that track your activity on this site, some of the plug-ins we use to work this site may collect additional information on you even though we are not aware of it. Please don’t accept cookies–little pieces of tracking code downloaded onto your computer–that you don’t understand just because they come from this site.
We Will Probably Keep Your Stuff Forever–But Never Sell It
When you submit comments, scheduling requests, or contact form messages, as well as when you call, email, or text us, we will probably keep that information forever in order to remember the history of our communications. We won’t sell it to anybody (we hate that) and we will ask your permission before we add your info to any sort of additional communication (like a newsletter). We don’t believe that communicating with a company or even doing business with them inherently gives permission for that business to start spamming us all the time–so we won’t do that to you, either.
Placing Blame
We Do Our Best But We May Be Wrong
We have the potential to make tons of recommendations on our website for people, organizations, products, services, and ideas in good faith that the people offering them are representing their stuff honestly. However, we do not know most of these people personally, so we cannot vouch for them as human beings. We can only make judgments based on publicly available information they release as well as our limited experience with them or their stuff. So… if someone we recommended ends up becoming a nasty person, or something we recommended ends up being recalled for some issue, we will gladly apologize to you, but we can’t do much else.
Only You & Your Higher Power Can Know What’s Best for You
Please take our recommendations with a grain of salt, and take the responsibility to do your own research before you make your decisions. Also, seek your Higher Power’s guidance about everything! What is right for your neighbor in this season may not be right for you in this season–or ever! If you ask, you will receive.
Reusing Content
Public, Free Events
You can reuse our content in public gatherings not for the primary purpose of making money. For example, not-for-profit schools, churches, community groups, and the like can read, show, or print our content with proper attribution after getting our written permission. Contact us for details.
Private or For-Fee Events
If you’re running an event that costs money to attend (like a conference) or is not open to the public (like a corporate retreat), then we may also charge you a fee for the content because it is providing an economic benefit to you. Contact us for details.
Making Money
Healing Media
We make money when you buy our books, buy tickets to our webinars, or donate money to pay-it-forward when you enjoy our free online content.
Healing Technology
We make a teeny-tiny amount of money when you click on our affiliate links for a product or service we recommend and then buy something from that link within 24 hours. We have affiliate links through Amazon as well as directly with companies whose products and services we like.
Healing Communities
We do not yet make any money on these brilliant but nascent idea.
We Don’t Pander
We do not promote anything that doesn’t align with our personal values and hold up well in our experience of it. It can be hard to trust people on the internet who get paid to “sell” you things, so earning and keeping your trust is very important to us. In fact, although one of us hates sales, both of us love promoting people, organizations, products, services, and ideas that make healing easier for everyone!
Who’s in Charge
Who’s In Charge of Us?
We do business in accordance with the laws of the State of Colorado, the nation of the United States of America, and the regulations of the United States Army.
The Army’s In Charge of One of Us
In some cases, this means we cannot attend certain events, be hired by certain people or organizations, or promote certain products, services, or ideas that conflict with Tenay’s role in the Army; some of these restrictions are in effect for the rest of her life. She will let you know when we meet whether there may be such an issue to consider.
Tenay is NOT the Army
Since Tenay is still an Officer in the United States Army Reserve, it’s important for her to restate that our views on all our platforms are ours alone; they are not the “official” views of the United States Army. Even our views on military topics are ours alone, even if there are photos of us in uniform associated with these writings or videos–they are ours alone.
If the Army wants Tenay to share their official view about something, they will give her an official platform from which to share it, which will have her official duty position on it, and be run by an official public affairs Soldier— it won’t be on here.
Thanks and enjoy!
